The flow and heat transfer induced by an exponentially shrinking sheet with hybrid nanoparticles is investigated in this paper. The alumina (Al2O3) and copper (Cu) nanoparticles are suspended in water to form Al2O3–Cu/water hybrid nanofluid. In addition, the effects of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) and radiation are also taken into account. The similarity equations are gained from the governing equations using similarity transformation, and their solutions are obtained by the aid of the bvp4c solver available in Matlab software. Results elucidate that dual solutions exist for suction strength S > Sc and shrinking strength λ > λc. The critical values Sc and λc for the existence of the dual solutions decrease with the rising of the solid volume fractions of Cu, φ2 and the magnetic parameter, M. Besides, the skin friction and the heat transfer rate increase with the increasing of φ2 and M for the upper branch solutions. The increasing of radiation, R leads to reduce the surface temperature gradient which implies to the reduction of the heat transfer rate for both branches when λ < 0 (shrinking sheet). The stability of the dual solutions is determined by the temporal stability analysis, and it is discovered that only one of them is stable and physically applicable.  相似文献

An efficient semi-analytical method, namely the interpolating element-free Galerkin scaled boundary method (IEFG-SBM) is developed for structural dynamic analysis in this paper, which is based on boundary scattered nodes with no need of element connectivity. Since the shape functions of the improved interpolating moving least-squares (IIMLS) method satisfy the delta function property, the essential boundary conditions, as a result, can be enforced accurately without any additional efforts. Based on the improved continued fraction, the dynamic properties of a bounded domain are expressed by the high order static stiffness and mass matrices. This continued fraction solution is computationally more robust and the transient response can be obtained directly in the time domain using standard procedures in structural dynamics. It is testified from the computational results that the present method for structural dynamic analysis is quite easy to be implemented with high accuracy.  相似文献

The main interest of the present work is to fundamentally investigate the flow characteristics and heat transfer of a hybrid Cu-Al2O3/water nanofluid due to a radially stretching/shrinking surface with the mutual effects of MHD, suction and Joule heating. The surface is permeable to physically allow the wall mass fluid suction. Tiwari and Das model of nanofluid is used with the new thermophysical properties of hybrid nanofluid to represent the problem. A similarity transformation is adopted to convert the governing model (PDEs) into a nonlinear set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). A bvp4c solver in MATLAB software is employed to numerically compute the transformed system. The numerical results are discussed and graphically manifested in velocity and temperature profiles, as well as the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate with the pertinent values of the dimensionless parameters namely magnetic, Cu volume fraction, suction and Eckert number. The Eckert number has no impact on the boundary layer separation while the higher value of the suction parameter may affect the heat transfer performance. The presence of dual solutions (first and second) is seen on all the profiles within a limited range of the physical parameters. The stability analysis is executed, and it is validated that the first solution is the real solution.  相似文献

An approach to metabolomics profiling of non-infected and Ganoderma boninense (G. boninsense) infected oil palm roots crude extracts that utilize gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and multivariate statistics of principal component analysis (PCA) have been tested. This combination has provided a rapid approach in investigating the changes in the metabolite variations of non-infected and infected oil palm roots at 14 and 30 days post-infection. The extracts were prepared by using 80% (v/v) of methanol. In identifying the metabolites responsible for each differentiation, PCA model was generated in loading bi-plot. Dimethyl benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate, methyl 3-(3,5-ditert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoate, ergost-5-en-3-ol, (3β), stigmast-5-en-3-ol, (3β), stigmasterol, methyl hexadecanoate, methyl (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoate, methyl octadecanoate, 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol, methyl (Z)-octadec-6-enoate and (E)-icos-5-ene were found more abundant in G. boninense infected roots than in non-infected roots. Steroidal compounds and fatty acid derivatives which has been determined in the non-infected and G. boninense infected roots regulate a variety of responses to the G. boninense. The abundant of these metabolites in G. boninense infected roots are due to the crucial roles in pathogen defence.  相似文献

Cytochrome P450s are a superfamily of heme monooxygenases which catalyze a wide range of biochemical reactions. The reactions involve the introduction of an oxygen atom into an inactivated carbon of a compound which is essential to produce an intermediate of a hydroxylated product. The diversity of chemical reactions catalyzed by cytochrome P450s has led to their increased demand in numerous industrial and biotechnology applications. A recent study showed that a gene sequence encoding a CYP was found in the genome of Bacillus lehensis G1, and this gene shared structural similarity with the bacterial vitamin D hydroxylase (Vdh) from Pseudonocardia autotrophica. The objectives of present study was to mine, for a novel CYP from a new isolate B. lehensis G1 alkaliphile and determine the biological properties and functionalities of CYP in this bacterium. Our study employed the usage of computational methods to search for the novel CYP from CYP structural databases to identify the conserved pattern, functional domain and sequence properties of the uncharacterized CYP from B. lehensis G1. A computational homology model of the protein’s structure was generated and a docking analysis was performed to provide useful structural knowledge on the enzyme’s possible substrate and their interaction. Sequence analysis indicated that the newly identified CYP, termed CYP107CB2, contained the fingerprint heme binding sequence motif FxxGxxxCxG at position 336-345 as well as other highly conserved motifs characteristic of cytochrome P450 proteins. Using docking studies, we identified Ser-79, Leu-81, Val-231, Val-279, Val-383, Ala-232, Thr-236 and Thr-283 as important active site residues capable of stabilizing interactions with several potential substrates, including vitamin D3, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and 1α-hydroxyvitamin D3, in which all substrates docked proximally to the enzyme’s heme center. Biochemical analysis indicated that CYP107CB2 is a biologically active protein to produce 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 from 1α-hydroxyvitamin D3. Based on these results, we conclude that the novel CYP107CB2 identified from B. lehensis G1 is a putative vitamin D hydroxylase which is possibly capable of catalyzing the bioconversion of parental vitamin D3 to calcitriol, or related metabolic products.  相似文献

Metal oxide nanoparticles have been found to selectively target the tumor cells while non-toxic to the normal cells. Leukemia is one of the widespread and deadly cancers in adults, as well as the most common cancer in children. Recently, the nanoparticles have evolved as a simple, economic, effective, and ecologically sound strategy among the known nanoparticle synthesis techniques. In the present study, the structural, optical, and antibacterial effects of nickel cobalt-codoped Tin oxide nanoparticles (SnNiCoO2 NPs) formulated by the green process and the anticancer potential of SnNiCoO2 NPs in Molt-4 cells have been studied. The cytotoxic potential of the NPs against Molt-4 cells was estimated by MTT assay. The ROS and MMP levels were measured using fluorescent dyes and the changes in morphology and nuclei were noted using AO/EB staining. CAT, SOD, MDA, and GSH), and Proinflammatory Cytokines (TNF-α and IL1β) were also studied. The activity of caspase-3, ?9, and ?8 levels was examined to analyze the apoptotic mechanism. The XRD patterns of SnNiCoO2 NPs revealed a tetragonal structure. The SnNiCoO2 NPs was revealed a diameter of 126 nm by the DLS study. The morphology and elemental composition were studied using FESEM and EDAX spectra. In the FT-IR study, the O-sn-O stretching band was found to be 615 and 542 cm-1. The antimicrobial potential of the SnNiCoO2 NPs was examined against S. aureus, E. coli, and C. Albicans strains. A tremendous reduction in the viability of MOLT-4 cells at concentration-dependent mode witnessed the cytotoxic potential of the formulated NPs. The augmented ROS accumulation, depletion of MMP status, depleted antioxidants, and increased proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL1β) were noted on the NPs exposed cells. Furthermore, the increased expressions of caspase-3, ?9, and ?8 was also noted in the NPs treated MOLT-4 cells. Hence, the outcomes suggest that the formulated SnNiCoO2 NPs had remarkably potent antimicrobial and anticancer properties and could potentially prove beneficial in cancer treatment. Biofilms play an essential role in chronic and healthcare-associated infections and are more resistant to antimicrobials compared to their planktonic counterparts due to their (1) physiological state, (2) cell density, (3) quorum sensing abilities, (4) presence of extracellular matrix, (5) upregulation of drug efflux pumps, (6) point mutation and overexpression of resistance genes, and (7) presence of persister cells. The genes involved and their implications in antimicrobial resistance are well defined for bacterial biofilms but are understudied in fungal biofilms. Potential therapeutics for biofilm mitigation that have been reported include (1) antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, (2) antimicrobial lock therapy, (3) antimicrobial peptides, (4) electrical methods, and (5) antimicrobial coatings. These approaches exhibit promising characteristics for addressing the impending crisis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Recently, advances in the micro- and nanotechnology field have propelled the development of novel biomaterials and approaches to combat biofilms either independently, in combination or as antimicrobial delivery systems. In this review, we will summarize the general principles of clinically important microbial biofilm formation with a focus on fungal biofilms. We will delve into the details of some novel micro- and nanotechnology approaches that have been developed to combat biofilms and the possibility of utilizing them in a clinical setting.  相似文献
